It's no secret that I love Alexander Osterwalder's business model canvas concept.
If you're not familiar with the business model canvas, the idea is brilliant. He created a one-page template with a series of labeled boxes that condenses all the salient components of a business plan down to easy to follow bullet points.
It's not a replacement for a full business plan, but it comes pretty darn close. Especially for small business owners who aren't looking for outside funding.
The thing I love about it is that it strips the fluff and helps people focus on the essential parts of the plan.
I am so enamored with the format that once I made my first canvas, I started thinking about how to apply the concept to other types of business planning.
Yes, you heard that right. I said email marketing campaign.
Social media may be the shiny new toy that everyone wants to make into the next big thing for connecting with customers, but the fact is that email has always been and continues to be the most efficient, effective and budget-friendly channel for connecting with customers and converting sales.
It has a phenomenal 85% in-box placement rate and averages an almost 23% open rate.
That 23% doesn't sound like much until you compare it to Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter's pitiful .58% open rate. (That's point five eight percent...) And trust me, you don't want to know about the conversion rates.
The scary thing is that despite being one of the oldest digital marketing channels, most small business owners have no idea how to leverage it.
That's where the email marketing canvas comes in.
This new canvas takes you through all the aspects of planning an email marketing campaign so you can rapidly develop a plan and deploy it.
It's Everything you need to put together an effective email campaign on one page.
If you're looking for an affordable, effective way to connect with customers think about email. We've given you the tools, now all you need to do is run with it.
Take a few minutes to watch the video, then click the image to download the email marketing campaign canvas. It's easy to follow and should only take about 30-minutes.
